(parts of the following are taken from an excerpt from the Creative Workshop by David Sherwin)

You will utilize Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign (for the final folder layout) for this project.

Syllabus Spring 2012

Day 1: Tuesday, April 3

Let's get it going!

Project Brief 1: Hello, My Name Is. . . . (not slim shady)

This is a branding assignment for yourself.

CHALLENGE: Spend 10 minutes answering the following questions:  "What are my three strengths as a designer? My weaknesses? What's my favorite color? What designers do I love? What design work do I enjoy? What kind of work do i want to do in the future?" Then design a logo for yourself that is clearly informed by your off-the-cuff responses. Be sure to stick to the time limit. (30 minutes). Peer critique at end of class.

Check out this for inspiration:   5 CHALLENGES TO SHARPEN YOUR DESIGN SKILLS

Using a "fast forward" icon, Claire developed a self-promotional identity system.

In the sample on the right, Mark Notermann designed this simple mark for his design services. " I started by just making some diagonal lines. The inspiration was originally in the shape of a lightening bolt, which quickly became a factory icon. I liked the factory icon, and felt it represented industry and workmanship. . . I chose a 'safety yellow' to keep the palette light and lively. If I'm lucky, it says 'he likes to work hard but still has fun.'"

Dont forget our FenChurch Logo that we worked on.  Start with research, then 10 quick thumbnails. This project is also the culmination of our "Sun logos" created in Art&Design class last year. . . . . See Clara's fantastic suns below. And Kelley's sun logos. . . . Great work students :)
